Nascot’s residents are concerned that the overflow of problems from Watford’s clubs and bars is getting worse. While in the past, noise, intimidating encounters and criminal damage were problems on the High Street, they are becoming common in the surrounding residential areas.
Nascot residents are reporting cases of intimidation by already drunk people heading towards town in the evening, loud disturbances in the night and criminal damage to fences and cars.
Penny says “I understand residents’ concerns that these problems are not being solved, but have been displaced to adjacent streets. People should not be afraid to leave their homes on a Friday and Saturday evening. While I support the idea of a vibrant town centre, I believe the council needs to re-examine its approach to licensing to make sure residents aren’t the victims of the town centre’s popularity.”
