A key part of Nascot’s community character comes from its local businesses and meeting places. Whether it’s the Courtlands Drive shops or the local pubs in the village, community amenities help make our area special.
Bearing this in mind, it is a shame that the original plan for a community asset, such as a Doctors’ Surgery or community centre, in the Cassio College development has been scrapped. More flats and a larger Tesco Extra have been substituted by the Lib Dems on the planning committee. While Tesco might be convenient, residents are concerned that it will have adverse effects on Nascot’s roads and existing businesses.
Penny says “Local shops and facilities are very important to me. I think being able to visit shops and meet fellow residents is essential to any community, and I agree with residents’ calls to support local businesses. But I share many people’s disappointment that changes to the Cassio College plans mean more flats instead of an additional community asset.”
