To make your council tax go further, and to reduce both light pollution and CO2 emissions, Herts County Council will switch off many residential street lights between midnight and 6.00 am. In this area the change is expected to start at the end of January.
C.Cllr. Frances Button has insisted that the lights from Carpenders Park Station to the shops in The Parade remain on. By law, road humps, traffic islands, chicanes etc have to be lit through the night, so St Georges Drive and Harrow Way will continue to have all-night lighting in those locations.
Frances Button is still negotiating with Herts Highways to keep the lights on all night at Alva Way junctions with By The Wood and Delta Gain, around the protruding tree in Alva Way and the sharp bend in Greenfield Avenue by the footpath to Prenrose Avenue.
We want to hear from residents about this issue and any others. Please get in touch with Terry and the team using the details overleaf.
