Our local area has recently seen a number of applications for mobile phone masts which local residents have objected to. Local resident Louise Ayres rallied the local community recently when a mast was planned for the junction of Broomfield Rise and Hazelwood Lane. Michelle was pleased to lend her support along with other residents. At a local planning meeting the planning officers, district councillors and the parish council all shared the concerns of the local residents and are going to oppose the request made by the mobile phone companies to site a mast on the Langleybury site. They are opposing on two grounds, one is that it is too close to local primary schools which goes against a guidance document which suggests that caution be used regarding locations within a set distance of schools. The second ground for objection is that it is not in keeping with the street scene and would adversely affect the amenity of the open space here. The mobile phone mast companies could still appeal this decision but local residents are optimistic that their concerns have been taken seriously.
