I was always know for my fund raising before I became involved locally and nationally with the Conservative Party. I designed and Chaired the wonderful Starlight Walk for the Peace Hospice, which raised over £1.8 million every penny going directly to The Peace Hospice, for which I was presented with an award by HRH Princess Michael of Kent the Patron of our wonderful Hospice. Later, with Nik Allen of My News we raised £18k in one night ‘Raising the Barrier’, the Barrier was desperately needed for the Hospice car park as a few nuisance people were parking in The Peace Hospice blocking spaces for the Families and Staff. With the £3k that was left over we presented it to DRUM for the furniture for their new toilet facilities. I was thrilled to be part of the team that represented the Hospice going on the Himalayas Challenge, walking the foothills of the Himalayas raising funds and opening a Children’s Hospice in Delhi for children with terminal cancer. For my work on Starlight I was awarded the Mayor’s Highest Honour – the Audentior Special Achievement Award for the Starlight Walk followed by the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’, by My Local Hero, volunteering has always been very rewarding for me personally and the charities I have chosen to support.
I am a local resident who has lived in Watford for almost 20 years, I am standing for the upcoming County and Borough elections on May 6, 2021.
I am delighted and honoured to stand for election to represent residents at both the County level for the Nascot-Park wards and Borough Council for Park. Having previously served as a local councillor in Nascot, and being a resident of Cassiobury for nearly 20 years, I know our area inside out and what fellow residents need, as well as having both the time and energy for the roles to get the best for you.
I promise to work exceptionally hard on my key campaign issues of:
- THE OVER-DEVELOPMENT DISASTER: PROTECTING THE CHARACTER OF OUR AREA
- NO MORE TAX INCREASES: PROVIDING VALUE FOR MONEY
- SUPPORTING SMALL BUSINESSES; ENSURING LOCAL JOBS AND PROSPERITY
- MOVE OUR MARKET TO PLACE WHERE IT CAN SURVIVE
If elected, I want to work with our MP Dean Russell. I want to work with the County Council and I want to work with the Police and Crime Commissioner, David Lloyd, not against them. I would like to see more openness and honesty in our local politics.
I am disturbed by the overdevelopment of our area. High-Rise Tower Blocks of flats are not in keeping with our existing homes, and the developments on the St Albans Road and Ascot Road are creeping closer. Planning relevant infrastructure alongside developments isn't understood by the Lib-Dems, who are not respecting the heritage of our Market town.
Another year, another council-tax increase and limited change or reductions in services. I am campaigning to get the basics right. We must bring back weekly bin collections, and remove the Garden Tax, with no extra charges for collecting our rubbish.
I also want to move our beloved Watford Market to the High Street where there is the prospect of greater footfall. Our Market has a Royal Charter, it does not deserve to be in a Car Park, dying! This Council is spending money on superficial improvements without strategic thought.
If you give me five minutes of your time on 6th May and vote Conservative, I promise to give you four years of hard, dedicated work, helping to improve our wonderful Nascot - Park.
Please use your vote carefully on May 6. I am always available to be contacted at firstname.lastname@example.org or 07973 621179.
